Some of the hardest words to hear as a client are “I can’t help you, your case is too small.” I believe I have found a way for that not to be the case anymore (except at the most miniscule amounts). If you have a case relating to the payment of money (as opposed to, for example, a physical injury) worth $100,000 or less, I believe I can lend (or sell) a hand along the following lines:
- The fee will be a combination of fixed amount and contingency incentive. For example, it might cost $1,000.00 to draft a demand letter, and if the matter settles after the letter, there would be an added contingency of 10%. Again, that’s an example.
- The fixed amount and the incentive would go up. There would be an added flat fee, for example, if a Complaint is filed, and the percentage would go up from 10%.
- You would be responsible for actual expenses. If it costs $300.00 to file and serve a Complaint, that is in addition to the fees.
- I require that you provide me with all information up front – we would discuss what that means.
- We would specifically define the tasks I am performing.
One other item: this program is limited. That is, at no time will I be handling more that a handful of matters under this construct.
